A Basic READ Set for D1R1, D1R2, and D3C1

We actually have to look at the capability matrix and the READ set at the same time to decide which robots will be able to contribute and in what ways they will be able to contribute to the team. Recall that the READ set will include the physical environment within which the team of robots will have to operate. Figure 6-5 is the top view of a simple READ set for our pop analysis task.

Some of the important features of the READ set are that it is 5 × 6 ft in size. It’s a rectangular area. There will be three 9-cm-tall glass beakers with a diameter of 7/12 cm. The beakers are going to be placed 2 ft apart on the left edge of the environment. We can see where the robots will be placed in the environment. Remember, the READ set is also a major planning tool. Figure 6-6 is a side view of the READ set. The side view is important because it gives you the relative heights and lengths of all the objects that the robots have to deal with in proportion to the heights of the robots.
